Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center

Opened to the public in 1982, Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center, a Harris County Precinct 4 Nature Preserve of over 300 acres, is open to visitors as a passive recreation day use facility. Located along the southern banks of Spring Creek, natural beauty and history are combined in the parks unique setting. Jones Park offers a window into the vast floodplain forests of southeast Texas. Explore diverse ecosystems including ancient bald cypress swamps,  magnolia and sweetgum forest, Spring Creeks’ white sand point bars and wildflower meadows.  Designated as stop #38 of Texas Parks and Wildlife’s The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, the vast trail system and boardwalks allow naturalists and birders unadulterated viewing of resident and migratory wildlife and birds. White tailed deer, bobcats, coyotes, swamp rabbits, as well as bald eagles, tri-colored herons, wood ducks, prothonatary and swainsons warblers,  tanagers, buntings and countless other species can be checked off life lists. The nature center is open year-round and offers informational displays including live snakes and taxidermied wildlife.  Jones Park staff and volunteers offer a variety of guided tours and free educational programs, ranging from the lifestyles and customs of early settlers in the Redbud Hill Homestead and Akokisa Indian Village, to the environmental benefits of this natural setting.   Jesse Jones Park & Nature Center is located at 20634 Kenswick Drive in Humble, just north of FM 1960, in north eastern Harris county.
