Ecoregion Experiences Events (MPC E3)
Houston Wilderness (HW) works with a broad-based alliance of business, environmental and government interests to advocate for additional greenspace and nature-based infrastructure around our region, as part of an 8-county Gulf-Houston Regional Conservation Plan that includes three key goals around these issues. For the past two years, HW has been working to help MPCs and MUDs to increase the opportunities for expansion of green spaces in their Districts for recreational uses and improved ecosystem services, particularly related to finding ways to increase the current 1% cap on park bonds for qualifying Districts around the state. One way that HW currently supports Districts is through a HW-facilitated program started in early 2020 called the MPC Ecoregion Experiences Events (MPC E3) to highlight the substantial benefits that green spaces and nature-based amenities provide for both old and new MPCs and Districts around the region.
