Regional Access to Native Grasses (RANG) Growers Group

ABOUT THE RANG GROWERS GROUP

Launched in January of 2025, the RANG Growers Group is a network of native plant producers/suppliers, comprised of all interested native grass and coastal vegetation growers and suppliers across the entire coast (see above maps of RANG members) who are working with HW and other coastal partners to develop a strategy to expand the availability of native grasses and vegetation for use in various large-scale nature-based infrastructure (NBI) projects. The RANG Growers Group works closely with public/private partners and TxCoast TUBUs projects to build availability of grass plugs and other coastal plants to meet demand for current and upcoming large-scale coastal and inland NBI projects throughout the Texas coast. Facilitated by Houston Wilderness, the RANG Growers Group are addressing a disconnect between the growing demand for restoration efforts and the limited availability of locally sourced coastal and inland native plants, which makes it challenging to complete projects efficiently. We are actively working to address this gap and streamline the process.
